The Canadian skeleton team have been absolved of accusations that they deliberately manipulated a selection race for the Winter Olympics, thereby denying competitors from other nations a spot to secure their place.

A prominent American athlete Katie Uhlaender accused the Canadian squad of pulling a majority of its entered athletes from a race in Lake Placid. She claimed this shrunk the competition, making a lower points pool available. Despite winning the event, the American athlete failed to earn her qualifying position for the Milan-Cortina Games.

“The current IBSF Rules allow member nations to withdraw athletes from competition at any time,” stated the governing body.
